Ruta Asimus

“Of all the professional development activities I have engaged in throughout my career, I have found Ruta's coaching to be the most transformative experience. Her insight and expertise have helped me transform my ideas into strategies and through a series of coaching conversations and focussed reflections I have been able to reach a deeper understanding of my own values, objectives, strengths and weaknesses, which in turn has enabled me to sharpen my focus and energies towards the pursuit of high impact, measurable change within my organization. Ruta's impact hasn't just been felt by me but by my team and by my whole institution.”
Deputy Vice Chancellor, Major University

Ruta’s unique skill is supporting people and organisations through major change. She has successfully led large complex change programs and process re-engineering across many business units and cultures. Ruta’s international HR experience includes Asia, North America and Europe, opening offices in New York and Luxembourg, and postings in Hong Kong and Shanghai. She was the first female manager in a coal generating station in Canada. Moving to Australia, Ruta established a new function for Myer and supported acquisition integration. She then moved to Hong Kong and led the global HR function for the merchant bank arm of HSBC, across 14 countries.

Continuing her fascination with how to integrate, motivate people and drive organisational change, Ruta returned to Australia and joined AMP, implementing an international HR function and integrating insurance processing. Ruta then went to Westpac where she centralised mortgage processing and introduced culture management. Most recently, at IBM, Ruta merged two companies, set up IBM’s first Asia Pacific Service Centre and integrated recruitment across 17 countries, with significant savings.

Mentoring and coaching individuals for many years, Ruta formally certified as an executive coach over a 3 year program. In her coaching, Ruta listens intently, drawing on her business understanding and coach training, often surprising clients with her intuition. She works towards helping people become the best they can be. Ruta has helped executives improve sales, get promoted, balance work and life, plan next career steps, develop leadership capabilities, identify and overcome career derailer behaviours, build high performing teams, transition into new roles, and manage difficult bosses.

Ruta’s focus on building capability also includes developing Collective Leadership in organizations and Building high Performance Teams.

On a personal front, Ruta truly enjoys the company of her family. She loves to bushwalk, spend lots of time researching her Australian cook books and then cooking for her dinner parties, immerses herself in theatre, and she cannot live life without listening to music and travelling. Ruta uses yoga to stay fit and grounded in her own life.
